Management Team

Spencer Williamson

Spencer is President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the board of directors. Prior to joining Intelliject, he spent 15 years with Guidant Corporation (now Boston Scientific Corporation) in a variety of sales, marketing, business development and general management positions. He began his career in the Medical Devices and Diagnostics (MDD) Division of Eli Lilly & Co. which was spun off from Lilly to become Guidant in 1994. Among positions of increasing seniority, Spencer was Director of Global Marketing for the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division of Guidant Corporation. His final position with Guidant was Director of Operations for the western United States. Spencer serves on the board of directors of several private life science companies and is a member of the VABIO (Virginia Biotechnology Association) board of directors.

Spencer holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute, and a MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He served as a naval officer on a guided missile destroyer for four years.


Eric Edwards

Eric is Chief Science Officer. He is a co-founder of Intelliject and is co-inventor of the company’s technology platforms. He is responsible for Intelliject’s clinical programs, assists with pharmaceutical development efforts, and leads all aspects of medical affairs for the company. Eric has a B.S. in Biology and Ph.D. in the pharmaceutical sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University.

 

 


Evan Edwards

Evan is Vice President, Product Development. He is a co-founder of Intelliject and is co-inventor of Intelliject’s technology platforms. He manages all areas of the invention and design process, including the company’s intellectual property portfolio. Evan has been recognized among his peers for his expertise and work in human factors engineering (HFE) and he is actively involved with the Human Factors & Ergonomics Society (HFES) and serves on the Medical Devices for Injection and Human Factors Committees for the Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).

Evan is a graduate of the University of Virginia where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Systems Engineering with a concentration on HFE.


Kris Ford

Kris is Vice President, Business Development and is responsible for the negotiation of Intelliject’s strategic partner collaborations and licensing of the company’s proprietary patient-centric platform for developing combination drug/device products. He has 20 years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience including in- and out-licensing, co-promotion, divestments, M&A, joint ventures, venture financing, and IPOs. Prior to joining Intelliject, Kris was Vice President, Business Development for UCB Pharma North America from 2002 – 2008. He began his career with Bristol-Myers Squibb, and has also held leadership roles at AAI Pharma, Oasis Biosciences and Inceutica.

Kris holds BS and MS degrees from NC State University in Raleigh and an MBA from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington.


Ron Gunn

Ron is Vice President, Drug Development and Regulatory Affairs and directs all aspects of drug development and regulatory affairs including clinical development at Intelliject. He has over 25 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology development and operations experience. Prior to joining Intelliject, Ron served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Insmed Incorporated where his responsibilities included R&D, Finance, Manufacturing and Quality. Ron has directed the strategic development, compilation, submission and management of several IND and US and EU Orphan Drug applications, and the successful submission and approval of a NDA for a novel orphan biologic product. Prior to joining Insmed, he held several clinical, business development and operational positions with domestic and foreign companies within the pharmaceutical industry.

Ron received his MBA and his MS in Statistics from Virginia Commonwealth University.


Neil Hughes
Neil is Chief Commercial Officer and is responsible for all aspects of product commercialization, including strategic planning and product marketing. He joined Intelliject with 18 years experience in pharmaceutical/biotech companies, predominantly in sales and marketing roles. Most recently, Neil was Executive Director, Marketing for Amgen, based in their international headquarters in Switzerland. Prior to joining Amgen, he worked for 14 years at Eli Lilly and Company and was involved in the pre-launch planning, launch and commercialization of a number of blockbuster pharmaceuticals. Neil has also been engaged in the implementation and management of many commercial partnerships between pharmaceuticals/biotech companies including in- and out-licensing, promotional swaps, joint venture and contract sales.

He holds a law degree from the University of Glasgow in Scotland and an MBA from Indiana University.


Christopher Kurtz

Christopher Kurtz is Vice President, Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain. He is responsible for all manufacturing activities, as well as managing materials supply and logistics. Chris has over 20 years in engineering, manufacturing, and global supply chain experience. He is a US Navy Submarine Force veteran, having served 6 years active duty, primarily aboard the USS Guardfish fast attack nuclear submarine from 1988-1992. Prior to joining Intelliject Chris was Vice President Manufacturing Operations and Global Supply Chain at Alexza Pharmaceuticals, Vice President Research and Development for Novo Nordisk Delivery Technologies, Sr. Director of Process Engineering for Alza, Director of Operations Engineering for Nektar Therapeutics, and held management positions at Powderject Pharmaceuticals, Monsanto, and Hauser Chemical Research as well.

Chris completed the US Naval Nuclear Power Engineering program, and also graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Colorado in Boulder.


Mark Licata

Mark is Vice President, Industrialization and Quality. He is responsible for engineering, late phase development, and quality assurance activities for the Company. Mark has been in the medical device industry for over 25 years working at Bayer USA and Medtronic as well as a number of start-up companies. He has been granted 25 patents in the medical device field and is a member of the Society for Biomaterials and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Mark holds a Masters degree in Colloids, Polymers, Surfaces, and Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.


Chris Schools

Chris is Intelliject’s Chief Financial Officer. He has over 20 years of experience in a broad range of management, treasury, financial and accounting roles. Prior to joining Intelliject, Chris served as Vice President, Planning & Analysis for LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. Before that he worked for 11 years at Cadmus Communications Corporation, including 5 years as Vice President and Treasurer. Chris began his career in public accounting at Coopers & Lybrand, LLP.

Chris holds a BS in Commerce with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Virginia. He is a CPA licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
